As a car that’s obviously more expensive than the BZ4X, we expect the Lexus RZ to start around $50,000. The Toyota costs less than $8,000 and the Audi Q4 e-tron is an obvious RZ competitor. $53,300 in base form. Lexus likes to dress up its models with F Sport trim, so a version of the RZ like this could start at $55,000.

Although the exterior of the Lexus RZ has hints of the Toyota bZ4X, the two cars are completely different. This bodes well for the Lexus brand identity. The Lexus RZ 450e is powered by two electric motors. Lexus offers only 150 kW for the front engine and 80 kW for the rear. This equates to 308 horsepower. With all-wheel drive, expect the RZ to accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than five seconds. A single-speed gearbox directs power to all four corners.

The Lexus RZ has a wire-to-wire system that uses “electrical signals to electronically exchange steering and road information between the steering wheel and airbag.” It remains to be seen whether the system can offer the same feeling as driving without mechanical attachment.
The Direct4 AWD system can vary the front-to-rear drive ratio from 100:0 to 0:100. For example, the ratio changes from 50:50 to 20:80 when exiting a corner, pushing more torque to the rear wheels for more traction.
The 71.4 kWh battery gives the all-electric Lexus RZ 450e with an 18-inch cylinder 225 miles, but the EPA MPGe ratings should back that up. That’s more power than many other models, and information on charging options has not yet been shared by Lexus.
The interior of the 2023 Lexus RZ is loaded with smart features, but has a more high-tech feel than the average Lexus. Most of the center console is occupied by a large 14-inch touchscreen, which is part of the Lexus interface multimedia system. It should be a big improvement over the brand’s lackluster touchpad. Use the task switch to control the information displayed on the home screen.

The Lexus RZ seats are finished in two different materials, including Ultrasuede, which is made from 30% bio-based materials. Combined with a wood-grain console and natural light streaming through the standard panoramic sunroof, the RZ’s interior is inviting, and Lexus says second-row headroom is significantly larger. Interior colors include Thunder, Palomino and Dapple Grey/Black.
Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 integrates a number of driver assistance devices, including dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure warning, pre-collision warning and lane departure warning.
As for the Lexus RZ’s trunk, we don’t know how big it is, but the automaker says the low-profile rear axle frees up a ton of space.
