The company’s latest competitor, the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE, has been confirmed for Australia, but the company will wait until 2022 to reveal local powertrains, specifications, pricing and arrival times.
Lexus Rx Rx 350
This new RX follows the introduction of the next-generation smaller NX midsize SUV, the larger (Toyota Landcruiser-based) LX body-on-frame SUV, and the all-electric RZ SUV.
One of the highlights of the revised 2023 Lexus RX is the confirmation of the flagship RX500h F Sport Performance Edition, which is powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and hybrid system with a “high-performance” eAxle rear electric motor.
Other powertrain options include a conventional 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine for the RX350, a 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid for the RX350h, and a 2.5-litre four-cylinder plug-in hybrid (PHEV) for the RX450h+.
Lexus adds that two and all-wheel drive options will be available, although the old V6 options have been dropped in favor of these new, more efficient options.
Lexus Rx Review & Testdrive
The new RX has the same length at 4890mm, but the wheelbase has been increased by 60mm to 2850mm, giving it more interior space.
As it turns out, the 2023 Lexus RX is a five-seater, not to mention a continuation of today’s extended seven-seater model. But Lexus is expected to release a new three-series TX model to fill that void.
The rear cargo area has been increased by 50mm thanks to narrower hatch doors, while the cargo height has been reduced by 30mm for “more useful overall luggage space”.
Overall width increased by 25mm to 1920mm and height decreased by 10mm to 1695mm.

Lexus says these changes lower the center of gravity for safer driving, but the differences are minor in size.
The front suspension includes MacPherson struts, while the rear uses a “newly developed” multi-link system that creates more efficient interior space.
In terms of design, the new Lexus RX is said to have a “unique identity” but clearly borrows many design cues from the smaller Lexus NX.
The front has a signature grille and signature L-shaped daytime running lights. The F Sport model features a different front bumper design with a wider, lower stance.

On the side, the new RX has NX-like electronic locking doors and a typical SUV silhouette with sharp curves, rounded wheel arches and door scallops. It is less angular than its predecessor and resembles recent Lexus vehicles.
The interior of the RX is based on the design philosophy of the Tazuna, clearly allowing the driver to focus on driving while still creating a spacious and open cabin.
Two different sizes of the central touchscreen will be available: 9.8-inch and 14-inch, as well as a digital instrument cluster like the NX.
Drivers will be able to interact with the head-up display using the trackpad buttons / switches on the steering wheel. These buttons also control various functions, including navigation and sound.

Other interior features listed as available include multi-color ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, and heated and ventilated seats.
Five interior colors and 10 exterior colors will be available. There is also a new Sonic Copper Metallic paint variant.
Lexus is offering the new RX with over-the-air (OTA) updates that allow for feature updates, new features and performance improvements.
There is also a smartphone app that can be used as a digital key and allows functions such as remote locking and unlocking and remote engine start.

The Pioneer RX has been Lexus’ best seller for the past two decades. With over 3.5 million units sold worldwide since its introduction in 1998, with 300,000 in Europe, this 5th generation RX is key to the brand’s future “Electrified Lexus” strategy.
Koji Sato, President of Lexus International: “With the new RX, we aimed to capture the Lexus DNA of driving excellence, comfort and sophistication, and take the driving experience to the next level by delivering a unique Lexus driving style . “
Along with the recently released NX and recently revealed RZ, the RX will help create the “next chapter” of the Lexus brand. These three models represent the strongest offering in the premium D-E SUV market, the backbone of Lexus’ business.
Lexus has developed a new design language for the Next Chapter for the new RX. It features a new “spindle body” achieved by integrating the spindle concept into the front of the vehicle. The RX team also drew inspiration from RX’s rich design heritage. The result is a vehicle instantly recognizable as the RX, but with a more dynamic, elegant and confident character.

Inside, the Tazuna’s driver-centric cab focuses on providing the driver with direct, intuitive vehicle control according to the “hands on the wheel, eyes on the road” principle. It also improves the driving experience with a clear, intuitive layout complemented by a new 14-inch touchscreen.
The new RX comes with a range of three different electrification options in Europe. The RX 450h+, which is at the heart of the brand’s offering in Western Europe, will offer RX buyers Lexus’ reference plug-in technology. Lexus introduces the new RX 350h Hybrid as an efficient alternative to smaller diesel and petrol powertrains. And for those drivers looking for more dynamic performance, Lexus is introducing its first turbo-hybrid vehicle, the RX 500h with DIRECT4 traction control.
For Eastern markets, along with the high-performance hybrid RX 500h, Lexus is also offering the RX 350 with a 2.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine that offers higher performance than the current model.
To create a unique “Lexus Driving Signature” for the new RX, Lexus has optimized basic SUV characteristics such as center of gravity, inertia, weight reduction, stiffness and powertrain to create a more natural dialogue between car and driver. Improved handling and responsiveness is provided by the advanced GA-K platform, which provides better body rigidity and a low center of gravity.
Lexus Rx 450h+ (2023)
Leveraging Lexus’ best safety technology, the RX offers the third-generation Lexus Safety System+, an improved collision avoidance system, a new Predictive Driver Assistance System and an enhanced safety package. The RX also features the latest multimedia platform with the Hey Lexus Smart voice assistant and the Lexus Link app.
When it was launched in 1998, the RX 300 was the world’s first luxury SUV, creating a whole new segment of vehicles with the style, acceleration, handling and quietness of a luxury car. In 2005, the RX 400h became the world’s first luxury hybrid vehicle with a revolutionary powertrain combining a V6 petrol engine and a powerful electric motor, a technological breakthrough that served as the launch pad for the entire Lexus hybrid line. Praised by customers for comfort, refinement and quality, the 2016 RX is the first Lexus to feature Lexus Safety System+ technology. In 2019, RX showcased the world’s first BladeScan™ Adaptive High Beam System, which uses a rotating blade-shaped mirror to provide enhanced LED headlight illumination.
“First, we created a dynamic exterior design to convey an attractive, eye-catching look, as well as strong fitment to emphasize driving performance. We then refined the proportions to improve the driving experience and introduced new transmission technologies such as DIRECT4,” explains RX. Chief Engineer. . Takaki Ono.
Moving towards electrification, the designers took it upon themselves to introduce a new “spindle case” design into the new RX. This results in improved grid integration that gives a sense of electrifying power and a low center of gravity. Closer and sharper headlights, air intakes and a wider track (15 mm) enhance the stable, confident look.

To achieve a bolder stance, Lexus designers designed a slimmer stance front and rear, lengthening the bonnet, extending the wheelbase by 60mm and lowering the roofline by 10mm. The signature black C-pillar (Lexus’ so-called “floating roof”) is now more three-dimensional, giving the car a coupe feel, while the RX’s sleek lines and large 21-inch wheels add extra oomph to the RX.
The triple LED headlights are thinner, sharper and more horizontal. The design is complemented by L-shaped daytime running lights, giving the car a powerful look. At the rear, Lexus’ signature single-line tail lights reinforce the iconic RX shape, while wide
