If you can resist the temptation of an SUV, the Lexus ES stands out as a viable option. It scores 7.0 out of 10 on the TCC scale thanks to a good mix of refinement, features and fuel economy in hybrid mode. (Read more about how we rate cars.)

After a major update last year, the ES arrives in 2023 with welcome news: a new center console that removes the touchpad controller and replaces the interface with a standard 8.0-inch screen or a 12.3-inch option.

This large traditional sedan competes with the Toyota Camry and Toyota Avalon, but it belongs in the upper class. Lexus is the most popular car, but it is going to the RX crossover SUV in the sales race.

Thanks to its sharp lines, the ES offers a sporty character. The interior is quieter, with beautiful shapes and small details. Used in a light shade with soft leather and real wood, the ES can be very expensive.

No matter the powertrain, all versions of the ES have a suspension that boosts power and stabilizes the result in sporty movements. Models are available in either the 302-hp ES 350 V-6 front-wheel drive or the 203-hp 4-cylinder ES 250 all-wheel drive. The best option here is the ES 300h hybrid, which produces 214 hp and 44 mpg combined, which means it can go over 15 kilometers more per gallon of fuel than before of his siblings.

Here’s How The Lexus Es Gets More Desirable For 2023

Inside, the ES has plenty of room for four adults, or five at a stretch. An interesting feature is the lack of a folding rear seat, which may help sell RX crossovers. All features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

In terms of safety, the ES scores high in crash tests and has an impressive array of accident prevention features such as emergency braking, active lane control, blind spot alerts and cruise control.

This year, the 2023 Lexus ES starts at $42,490 in ES 250 AWD or ES 350 guises. The wheel costs an extra $1,200.

We’ll go for the hybrid and the Luxe trim, adding leather seats and some accessories. Add an option or two and you’re at $50,000.

The 2023 Lexus ES is as beautiful on the outside as it is on the inside. We leave the mark on its exterior and interior, leading to a 7 on the TCC scale.

The lower part carries the clean version of Lexus’ signature ‘spindle’ grille, although it is surrounded by chrome whiskers that look out of place. The under-is-over theme continues on the pages, where ES has a low, sinuous and least-controversial style. Separate from the background thanks to a wide light panel covered by a light part of the work.

Inside, the second-level dash is elevated by a wide-screen 12.3-inch screen. (The 8.0-inch display is standard, but you’ll want a bigger screen). Previous review: The CD player sits far from the center.

Maybe so. All-wheel drive is standard on the ES 250, but not available on the ES 350 or ES 300h.

Lexus Es350 Test: An Attractive Luxury Sedan With A Frustrating Flaw

The ES 250 is the lowest model in its lineup, and uses a 203-hp 2.5-liter inline-4 mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. We haven’t driven this model, although on paper it’s light for a 3,800-lb luxury sedan with all-wheel drive. Lexus quotes a 0-60 mph time of 8.6 seconds for this sedan.

The next ES 300h changes things with a hybrid system with a single electric motor and a nickel-metal-hydride battery to match the 2.5-liter inline-4 for a total power of 215 hp. This combination also has more torque, which helps to give the ES 300h respectable power; It’s faster than the base version, with a 0-60 mph time of 8.1 seconds. It can be grumbling at times, and we don’t really like the automatic transmission (CVT) because it keeps the engine working hard at high revs to get power. However, for many users, it is the best strength training tool out there – especially for its fuel economy.

The top of the line, at least in terms of power, is the ES 350. Its 302-hp V-6 delivers a familiar growl, mixed with a slight snarl. It’s the most refined engine here, and works well with the 8-speed automatic that comes with it. Its 0-60 mph time is listed at 6.6 seconds.

Most models have a smooth and fluid ride and a good steering wheel. Front-wheel drive models can be equipped with the F Sport Handling package with adaptive dampers, Sport + and normal steering modes, all of which require a responsive and engaging feel. The Top-of-the-line Ultra Luxury trims are equipped with these dampers that work intelligently to give them a better ride and less body in hard corners. It’s no secret that this model is heavy on the road, but unless you live in a canyon in Southern California, the ES is perfect for daily driving.

Quiet, classy and stylish, the Lexus ES has a good cabin for the money. It’s an 8 on our scale for the quality of its four-wheel drive, its front seats, and its luxurious interior.

The ES is 196 inches wide, offering a good amount of room inside. The power-adjusted front seats accommodate a wide range of bodies, with little sport expansion. Five adults can slide inside, while the third row is reserved for three adults abreast. Interestingly, the back of the second row doesn’t fold, so you’ll have to pay extra for shipping when you go shopping.

It comes in synthetic leather, although the best quality is genuine leather on the options list. Other niceties include exposed wood, heated and ventilated front seats, and custom stitching. Two-tone homes can be daunting at first, but careful attention to detail will make it a fun place to burn miles.

It’s a top choice, with excellent ratings from the NHTSA and IIHS enhanced by crash and exterior safety features. The 2023 Lexus ES scores a 9 on the TCC scale.

Standard fare includes emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, lane-departure control, high-beam headlights and cruise control. A surround-view camera system and parking sensors are widely available.

Lexus offers a wide range of 2023 Lexus ES configurations. While the models are well equipped at $42,490 starting price is buying ES 350 or ES 250. A similar ES 300h option costs about $ 1,200 more, regardless of cut.

All models have leather upholstery, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, power adjustable front seats, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The $2,430 Premium package looks like a gimme for its heated and cooled front seats with driver memory, an electronic charging station, a wood trim and parking sensors, and a few extra features.

For $47,660 to start, the ES in Luxury trim drops most Premium Package features and genuine leather upholstery. Add another $1,030 12.3-inch touchscreen and you’re looking at a final bill under $50,000.

Step up from the impressive F Sport Design to the Ultra Luxury trim and the Lexus will cost the better part of $52,000, as these well-equipped models rival full-size sedans for their features.

The ES 350 is the most popular, and is rated at 22 mpg city, 32 highway, 26 combined. It’s not great given its performance, but the hybrid is more affordable.
