Announced in May 2022, the UX 2023 costs between $1,250 and $2,395 more than the model it replaces. Lexus’ small SUV range starts with the UX200 Luxury starting at $46,085 and on-road and the UX250h AWD F Sport starting at $65,995 and on-road.

Eight variants of the Lexus UX will be available to Australian buyers in 2023, as well as three additional “upgrade packages”, though prices for these packages have yet to be confirmed.

A larger 12.3-inch touchscreen replaces the old 10.3-inch display and a touchscreen control panel that includes new infotainment software including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, sat-nav and digital radio.

Lexus is adding a new next-generation touchscreen infotainment system, structural improvements for a smoother ride, and the UX line will be introduced in 2023.

The 2023 Lexus UX brings fresh styling to the masses. We don’t think about his lines. The UX is firmly in the modern Lexus camp with its angular styling and low profile. It draws more attention than some of its competitors such as the Mercedes GLA. The hourglass version of the Lexus grille gives the UX a familiar look. Don’t look for smooth curves or lines anywhere, from sharp LED headlights to curved sides. At the rear, the hatchback-like bodywork rises sharply and the red-winged taillights are connected by a thin strip.

The 2023 Lexus UX was not born for fun. The UX 250h comes standard with front-wheel drive, but offers optional all-wheel drive and a second electric motor that drives the rear wheels for excellent traction in winter conditions. The UX is a fairly fast 4-cylinder engine mated to two electric motors and uses a large battery pack for a power output of just 181 hp. The hybrid is rated at 43/41/42 mpg for front-wheel drive models only and 41/38/39 mpg for all-wheel drive models when using regular unleaded gasoline.

A dedicated transmission with a fixed first gear paired with a planetary gearbox attempts to mimic a conventional automatic transmission, although for the most part the setup fades into the background. The same can be said about UX management. The steering is sensible and the ride is comfortable, though the F Sport’s grip is better with taller tires.

Updated 2023 Lexus Ux Revealed

It may not be big, but the Lexus UX has plenty of safety features backed up by good crash test results. The 2023 Lexus UX performed well in crash tests. It was rated five stars by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and ranked #1 in safety by the IIHS. Every UX leaves the factory with a few collision avoidance features that are typically optional on competitors, including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitors and active lane control.

Inside, the UX is more traditional, with its dashboard tilted slightly towards the driver. Up top, the infotainment screen sits on the dash, and gauges are lined up with little-used accessory controls. The traditional shifters and shift lever in the center unit are convenient, unlike the large buttons and knobs that can be hidden in other compartments.

The 2023 Lexus UX makes good use of the space allotted to it. The small Lexus crossover isn’t particularly comfortable, but it looks well-organized and of good quality. Both the front seats and the cargo area have good cargo space. Lexus wraps the UX in synthetic leather regardless of the option package. The front seats are well designed with good power adjustment, but we wouldn’t go for the F Sport seats.

With just 33.1 inches of rear seat space, the UX isn’t a good choice for families, though it’s better used than some of the competition. The narrow rear doors make it difficult to get in and out, although we like the fold-down armrests and USB ports in the rear seats. Behind the rear seats, the UX offers about 17 cubic feet of cargo space, more than a sedan of the same size. Cross lines can be attached to the ceiling.

Reasonably priced around $36,000, the 2023 Lexus UX features synthetic leather upholstery, power seats, active safety technology including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and finally, a touchscreen. The screen has a standard size of 8 inches, but a 12.3-inch version is available in more expensive versions. Lexus provides the UX with a standard 4-year/50,000-mile warranty and two free service calls.

The F Sport package costs $2,000 more for chainstay design and reinforced seats, but we’ll skip that version. The Luxury package costs an additional $5,000 and adds features such as a power tailgate, shock sensors, and a 10.3-inch screen with navigation. Add LED headlights, a head-up display, a heated steering wheel, wireless smartphone charging and a few other little things to the all-wheel-drive UX 250H Luxury, and Lexus will hand you a $45,000 bill. .

For those looking for a luxury urban crossover to tame the urban jungle, the 2023 Lexus UX is a fine choice. It drives like a Lexus, keeps the outside world calm, with avant-garde styling that’s pleasing to the eye and the senses, while delivering an economical and reliable ride. The new 2023 hybrid power will certainly move the needle. After all, the UX is a real Lexus and deserves attention.
